CBD in a Nutshell
First things first: what exactly does CBD oil do for you?
The active ingredient in the oil, the cannabinoid CBD, interacts with your body through the endocannabinoid system. This is a system responsible for various essential functions in your body, from your hormone balance to your immune system. CBD ‘mimics’ the body’s own cannabinoids, which manage receptors and can support and balance certain bodily functions.
Scientific Research
A few years ago, CBD products were still somewhat taboo and may have had a shady reputation due to the – unfounded – association with the psychoactive substance THC from marijuana. Nowadays, more and more people realize how beneficial this compound can be.
There is now plenty of enthusiastic anecdotal evidence about the almost miraculous effects of cannabidiol. From a scientific perspective, there is also increasing evidence that CBD is not just a placebo effect, and CBD oil has many benefits.
As the demand for CBD oil and products increases, so does the interest from the scientific community. Currently, over 30 studies have been registered investigating the effects of CBD in treating various conditions, and this number is growing.
While some studies are still too small-scale to draw definitive conclusions, the results are promising: they suggest that cannabidiol does indeed have a positive effect on a wide range of conditions, both physical and mental.
CBD oil truly has benefits. Many studies (unfortunately still in English) can be found, for example, on PubMed
