CBG Oil

In the meantime, most people who are familiar with cannabis oil have heard of THC and, of course, the non-psychoactive variant CBD, and are aware of their effects. Fewer people are familiar with CBG (Cannabigerol). Like CBD, this is an important cannabinoid found in cannabis plants.

But what exactly is CBG oil, and what is the difference from CBD oil? Read all about it!

Research on Cannabigerol Oil

CBG is the building block produced by cannabis plants to create the cannabinoids CBD and THC, but all cannabis plants produce CBG first. The substance CBG was discovered in 1965 by two Israeli chemists. However, the substance is still relatively unknown. What is CBG oil good for? There hasn’t been much research done on CBG oil. So far, most studies and research have been conducted on the cannabinoids THC and CBD. The restrictions on cannabis testing make it difficult to find many quality studies on cannabigerol oil. Negative effects of CBG are (yet) unknown.

Using CBG is a personal journey: everyone reacts differently to it. It’s important to listen to your body and see what the positive effect of CBG oil is for you. We are happy to help you on this discovery journey! Have any questions or need advice? Feel free to reach out, we are happy to help!

What is CBG Oil?

CBG is the abbreviation for cannabigerol. All cannabis plants produce CBG as a building block for other active cannabinoids. Although CBG is not abundant in most varieties, it is an important substance for several reasons. With the help of enzymes, cannabigerol is converted into the final product: THC or CBD. In fact, it is not meant for CBG to remain in the plant.

However, a small portion of hemp plants fail to properly convert all CBG into other cannabinoids. These plants do not have a high content of other active substances. But that’s not a problem. Perhaps cannabigerol is more interesting than the other active cannabinoids in cannabis.

What is the Difference Between CBD and CBG?

CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol) are both cannabinoids derived from the cannabis plant, but they differ in various ways. One important difference lies in their chemical structure and how they bind to cannabinoid receptors in the body. CBD has little affinity for CB1 and CB2 receptors, but primarily works by influencing other receptors and neurotransmitters. CBG, on the other hand, has a higher affinity for CB1 and CB2 receptors, meaning it works more directly on the endocannabinoid system.

Additionally, CBD and CBG differ in their effects. CBD is known for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties, and is commonly used to treat anxiety, pain, inflammation, and seizures. It also has an antipsychotic effect, making it useful in treating mental health conditions such as schizophrenia.

Both CBD and CBG are non-psychoactive, so they do not cause a ‘high’, but they also differ in their availability in the cannabis plant. CBG is often present in much lower concentrations in most cannabis strains, whereas CBD is found in larger amounts, especially in hemp plants. This difference in concentration makes CBG oil generally more expensive and harder to find than CBD oil.

What is the effect of CBG?

CBG is often used as CBG oil, a completely natural oil found in the cannabis plant. CBG oil contains, in addition to cannabidiol, a high dose of cannabigerol.

Cannabigerol seems to work in conjunction with other cannabinoids (such as THC and CBD). Because other cannabinoids and the effects of CBG enhance each other, the ‘entourage effect’ occurs. This means that the result of the oil is better than if you were to use CBD and CBG separately.

The entourage effect occurs due to the chemical synergy between cannabinoids (CBG and CBD) and terpenes. That’s why we only work with the so-called ‘full spectrum’ oil. An oil with a complete profile of all cannabinoids to optimally enhance each other’s effects.

The Benefits of CBG Oils

Cannabigerol (CBG) is one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. While it is less well-known than cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBG has several potential benefits that are receiving increasing attention in scientific research. The chemical structure of CBG is being studied in an independent laboratory. Here are some of the key benefits of CBG:

Anti-inflammatory properties:

CBG has shown anti-inflammatory effects, which can help with conditions like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. It may also be useful for general pain and inflammation in the body.

Neuroprotective effects:

Research suggests that CBG has neuroprotective properties, meaning it may help protect nerve cells from damage. This is promising for conditions like Huntington’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.

Antibacterial action:

CBG has shown strong antibacterial properties, especially against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a dangerous and hard-to-treat bacterial infection.

Appetite stimulation:

Like THC, but without the psychoactive effects, CBG can stimulate appetite. This can be helpful for people suffering from eating disorders or weight loss due to illness.

Anti-cancer properties:

Early research has shown that CBG can inhibit tumor growth, particularly in colorectal cancer. Although this research is still in the early stages, it offers hope for new cancer treatments.

Pain relief:

CBG may also act as an analgesic (pain reliever), making it a natural alternative to traditional painkillers.

Like other online shops, we are not allowed to make medical claims regarding CBD / CBG products. This is regulated by European legislation, which applies to both producers and retailers.

Additionally, we are not authorized to provide medical advice as we are not doctors. If you have any doubts about using CBD / CBG, you can always consult a doctor, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions or are taking other medication.

Will CBG get me high?

We can keep it brief: no. The interaction of CBG with the body’s endocannabinoid system does not affect mental abilities.

CBG is non-psychoactive, so it will not get you high or stoned. Cannabigerol is derived from legally certified EU hemp plants, just like the more well-known compound CBD, and is fully legal to use.

For our CBG oil, we only use organically grown hemp plants. CBG is also suitable for use with animals. However, CBD oil and CBG can enhance each other’s properties, which is known as the entourage effect. This effect occurs when different cannabinoids interact with each other in the human body. Nevertheless, the actual psychoactive effect remains absent.

The Side Effects of CBG Oil

CBG oil, or cannabigerol oil, is becoming increasingly popular as a supplement due to its potential health benefits. While it is generally considered safe, there are some side effects that can occur with the use of CBG oil. Here are some possible side effects:

Dry mouth:

Like other cannabinoids, CBG oil can lead to a dry mouth. This is because cannabinoids can reduce saliva production.

Low blood pressure:

In some cases, CBG oil can cause a temporary drop in blood pressure. This can lead to dizziness or a light-headed feeling, especially when standing up.

Sleepiness:

CBG oil can cause sleepiness, especially in higher doses. This can be a positive effect for those using it to sleep better, but it can be problematic for those who need to stay alert.

Stomach discomfort:

Some people may experience mild stomach discomfort or nausea after taking CBG oil, especially if taken on an empty stomach.

Changes in appetite:

CBG oil can affect appetite, leading to more or less hunger. This effect can vary depending on the individual and the dosage.

Interactions with medications:

CBG oil may interact with certain medications, reducing their effectiveness or increasing side effects. It is important to consult a doctor if you are taking other medications before starting CBG oil.

It is essential to use CBG oil according to the recommended dosages and always consult with a doctor or healthcare professional, especially if you have health problems or are using other medications.
